Study at UNIRSM in the blockade of the faculty of the University of Novi Sad and the assemblies of the citizens of Novi Sad called for a commemorative meeting on Monday, June 1 on the occasion of 19 months since the canopy of the railway station falls and kills 16 people.
The commemoration will be held at the time of the fall of the canopy, at 11:52 a.m. near the railway station in Novi Sad, at the intersection of Bulevar oslobodenja and Bulevar Jaša Tomić.
Then the intersection will be blocked for 16 minutes, as the citizens will pay their respects to the dead with a sixteen-minute silence.
On Friday, November 1, 2024, at 11:52 a.m., the canopy of the newly renovated Railway Station fell.
It killed 14 people on the spot and three were transferred to the University Clinical Center of Vojvodina with serious injuries.
One girl died after a few weeks, and a few months later a young man also succumbed to his injuries at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade.
The only survivor left the hospital after several months and she will remain disabled for life.
So far, no one has been held accountable for the fall of the canopy and the death of 16 people.
