Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Zaječar again filed charges against Dejan Dragijević and Srđan Janković, on suspicion that they killed a two-year-old girl on March 26, 2024 in Banjsko polje near Bor Danka Ilic, whose body has not been found to this day.
With the indictment, which was brought after the investigation was completed, Dragijević and Janković were accused of aggravated murder, while Radoslav Dragijević, Dejan's father, was accused of failing to report a criminal offense and assisting the perpetrator.
In the indictment, the prosecution proposed that the court sentence Dejan Dragijević and Srđan Janković to life imprisonment.
It is suspected that on March 26, Dejan Dragijević and Srđan Janković in Banjsko polje first hit a two-year-old girl with the car of the state company "Vodovod", where they were employed, and then put her in the vehicle, and then threw her body at the landfill, from where it was later moved. The girl's body was never found.
What was happening?
It will soon be two years since the two-year-old girl Danka Ilić disappeared in the vicinity of Bor.
The Find Me system was activated for the first time in Serbia, a platform intended for urgent public notification in the event of a missing minor, the police were on the ground, searching day and night.
In those days, the police interviewed witnesses and locals, but nothing indicated what had happened to the child. Then a video from Vienna appeared showing a girl who looked like Danka Ilić, and the search was then extended to Austria.
Serbia was on its feet for ten days, after which Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that the girl had been killed, and that two people had confessed to the crime. We are talking about the workers of PUK "Vodovod" from Bor, Srđan Janković and Dejan Dragijević.
Two arrested employees of "Vodovod" confessed to the crime and described in detail the way in which they committed it, said Bratislav Gašić, then Minister of the Interior.
However, the accused retracted their confession a few weeks later, saying that they were in Vojvoda Radomir Putnik Street that day, but that they did not see Danka. They confessed to the murder because they had previously been beaten, they claimed before the prosecutor, the indictment quotes.
Dalibor Dragijević, brother of the accused Dejan, died at the Bor Police Department after being detained on suspicion of assisting in the murder.
