Judicial Union has started surveying employees, with the goal of a complete work stoppage on Tuesday, September 30.
According to the Union of Judicial Authorities, this step is necessary because the problems faced by the employees are becoming "unbearable".
"All this undermines the dignity of employees, distracts people from the judiciary and weakens the foundations of one of the most important state institutions," the Trade Union said.
Nemanja Đurić, the president of the Syndicate of the Judiciary, points out to "Vreme" that there are several reasons that will most likely lead to strike.
"There are many reasons why this procedure took place, first of all, we had a "conciliation procedure" carried out by the Agency for Peaceful Resolution of Labor Disputes, the procedure itself started four months ago, the Ministry of Justice is acting absolutely passively and does nothing about it," Đurić points out.
Among other things, Đurić points out that the late payments stipulated in the Special Collective Agreement, highly qualified workers receive the minimum wage.
"The incentive that is periodically paid to employees in the judiciary, the entire one, is late. While the others are paid in parts, although this was never the case before, and the employees really count on that part of the salary," Đurić told "Vreme".
The first step, but possibly not the last
The union adds that the survey is a way to hear the voice of every employee and to clearly show how serious the situation is.
From the Trade Union, they also emphasize that this is not the last step but the beginning of the struggle, and warn that if the Ministry of Justice headed by Minister Nenad Vujić does not solve the accumulated problems, they will be forced to continue with new, "even more decisive forms of union struggle".
Nemanja Đurić points out that this is only the first step, but if the Union is not satisfied with the answer, it is certain that there will be more.
"The strike on September 30 is the first step in this struggle, and we will see how the Ministry will react to it. The employees are in a very bad financial condition, so if we do not meet the demands, we can expect much more drastic forms of the strike," concludes Đurić.
