In the "Stari trg" mine near Trepča, 18 miners, mostly elderly, were pulled out, who were trapped at a depth of up to 770 meters this morning, due to problems with electricity, reports N1.
Repairs to the malfunction lasted for hours, and the problem occurred this morning, around 1:30 a.m., due to an interruption in the supply of electricity in the business unit, and due to a fault in the transmission line, reports reporter N1.
Group of 18 miner she was trapped in "Trepca" mine "Stari trg" near the southern part Kosovska Mitrovica, due to power problems.
As the mine stated, at that moment there were 47 workers, of whom 29 initially left, while 18 of them had to wait. As he adds, these were people of an older age who could not come to the surface at that time.
The news about the trapped miners was announced by the president of the union, Ibrahim Jonuzi, stating that the condition of the trapped miners is good for now, but that it could worsen if they are kept longer.
The director of the "Stari trg" mine, Šućri Sadiku, confirmed to the media in Albanian that the miners have been underground since 01.30.
"Most of them came out. At the moment, 18 miners are still inside, but we are working on finding an alternative solution. Fifty miners were inside," Sadiku said, RTS reported.
It is not the first time that miners have been trapped underground due to a power outage. At the end of January this year, due to a power outage, the second shift of miners in the "Stari trg" mine was trapped for hours.
It was the second time in a month that miners were trapped due to power problems.
