Preparatory work has begun for the demolition of one of the symbols of Belgrade, Hotel "Yugoslavia". It was said before about December as the beginning of demolition.
There are workers on the site who are installing a two-meter-high fence, with which they will enclose the entire area of the future construction site for the construction of a luxury residential and business complex in its place, which includes the construction of two towers of 155 meters each.
The workers, in a raised voice, told the FoNet reporter that taking pictures and filming was prohibited, after which he called the patrol of the regional police station, which went out to the field and told the workers that filming from the public area is not prohibited, especially when it comes to journalistic work in for the purpose of informing the public.
The "Save Gardoš and Zemun" initiative held a protest at the end of August and organized the signing of a petition against the demolition of that hotel.
Hotel "Yugoslavia" was sold on March 22 at a price of 3.176.997.271 dinars, and the buyer is MV Investment. owned by the Millennium Team.
The draft of the detailed regulation plan (PDR) of block 11 and part of block 10 in the municipalities of Novi Beograd and Zemun allows for the "removal of all existing buildings within the urban zone M4".
Instead of the "Yugoslavia" hotel, PDR envisages the construction of a luxury hotel and two towers, one of which should be for business and the other for residential. The towers are 255 meters high, and the building is 48 meters high.
Experts constantly warn that this new PDR is in complete collision with the plan of a higher order - the General Regulation Plan of Belgrade, which envisages the reconstruction of the Hotel "Yugoslavia".
