Members Belgrade City Security participated in extinguishing the fire in the Special Nature Reserve "Deliblato Sandstone", after the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia requested help from the Headquarters for Emergency Situations of the City of Belgrade, announced the President of the Belgrade Fire Brigade Association, Vladimir Grujić.
"As soon as information arrived from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia to the Headquarters for Emergency Situations of the City of Belgrade that they needed help, our people immediately responded and went to the field," Grujić said.
As he stated, the Headquarters for Emergency Situations quickly forwarded the request for help to the Fire Brigade of Belgrade and Security of the City of Belgrade.
"As of this morning, there are 30 members of the Security of the City of Belgrade on the ground who have made themselves available with nine off-road vehicles to help extinguish the fire. They are currently deployed on the territory of the town of Šumarak, which is the most threatened at the moment," said Grujić.
The situation is very complex.
He added that part of the Security of the City of Belgrade are also trained firefighters, as well as members of the volunteer fire brigades Singidunum, Mladenovac and Palilula, which is why their experience is of great importance.
Kristina Cvetković, a member of the voluntary fire brigade and a member of the Security of the City of Belgrade, confirmed that the situation on the line of fire is very complex, and that she and her colleagues have been participating in extinguishing the fire since this morning.
"The fire has engulfed a huge area that is under the forest. The situation is further complicated by the fact that there is not just one, but several active fires, while the wind constantly changes direction," said Cvetković.
She stated that the Serbian Army and the Ministry of Interior were also involved in the extinguishing, as well as that the fire was extinguished by helicopters from the air.
A fire in the Special Nature Reserve "Deliblatska peščara" threatened households yesterday. The fire has engulfed a large area of pine forest and low vegetation, and the situation is particularly serious in the area of the atar of the village of Šumarak.
All available forces are continuing the intense fight against the fire, making efforts to cut off the flame's spread as soon as possible and preserve this natural reserve.
