Novak Đoković he was caught walking in the northern suburbs Athens as he is looking for a school where he would enroll his children at the beginning of the next school year, Greek media reports. Depending on the available schools, the Djokovics would also consider other parts of this city in their search for a new home.
"After Roland Garros, Djokovic took a break to devote himself to his family. In Athens, he was looking for a school where classes are taught in English, and the plans to move to Athens intensified after the dinner that Novak had with the Prime Minister of Greece on Friday evening Kyriakos Mitsotakis. A Greek politician and a Serbian tennis player met in a restaurant in the Athens district of Kolonaki", writes the Greek "Gazeta".
Mitsotakis, according to this newspaper, supported Djokovic's move to the Greek capital, and according to everything, the Djokovic family will move permanently after the US Open in September.
The Greek program called "Golden Visa" will be valid for Djokovic. This program offers five-year residence permits for citizens from countries outside the European Union who invest in Greece.
Is Novak moving to Greece because of censorship in Serbia?
"It is known that Djokovic was censored by the government of his country because of his support for student protests and some of his statements and actions. Therefore, it would not be illogical for him to leave Serbia and move to one of the countries in the region where everything would be calmer for him and his family," the French portal "Welovetennis" points out.
The best tennis player in history in addition to Serbia, and soon obviously Greece, has a residence in both Monte Carlo and Marbella.
And there is every chance that this is one of the factors that influenced the tennis player's decision. Regime media did not focus so much on Djokovic, but on the other hand, they don't mention him when they don't have to. However, he can be counted on to get hooked on him very quickly, as well as on all the unsuitable ones.
The question arises - what will all this do to a man like Novak Djokovic.
Even the president of the country had his share, when he removed "I love Novak Djokovic" from the letter of the little boy Pavle and added "I train basketball, watch Euroleague and love Nikola Jokic".
There are also very good and luxurious English-language schools in Belgrade where Stefan and Tara could study. However, there is no need for the life of a man who built everything himself to be influenced by the people who lead this country. Especially when that influence is turned against him.
His distaste for the regime, however, changed the angle from which only they view him.

Why Athens?
The relationship between Novak Djokovic and Greece has been known for a long time. Several times, the best Serbian tennis player not only visited Greece, but also emphasized how much he loves this country.
In September 2017, a few weeks after the birth of his daughter Tara, Djokovic attended a ceremony dedicated to legendary coach Dušan Ivković in the "Hall of Peace and Friendship" in Piraeus.
The best memory of the Serbian and Greek audience is the speech at the Australian Open in 2023, after the victory in the final over the Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas.
"I want to say something about Greece and Serbia. We are two relatively small countries without a strong tennis tradition. We didn't have many role models at this level. That's why I tell the children who watch us play tennis - keep dreaming. Everything is possible. It doesn't matter where you come from. The bigger the challenges, the stronger you become. Stefanos and I are proof of that," Novak said at the time.
Athens, when the decision has already fallen on Greece, is a logical choice: it is close to most of the cities where tournaments are held, has an exceptional medical and educational infrastructure, and is also developing in terms of business. Novak Djokovic's fortune is estimated at over 700 million dollars.
New projects
After receiving the "Golden Visa", which obligates investment in the state, it is clear that Djokovic will start some kind of new business.
In Greece and the capital there, they are looking forward to Djokovic because they heard that he is planning to open tennis academies, with the aim of gathering new talents from Greece and the Balkan Peninsula. This seems like the most logical move by the best in tennis history.
It should be recalled that the company "Tara 2016 S", owned by Novak and Jelena Đoković, made a decision at the end of May 2023 to return the land and facilities within the Tennis Center "Novak" on Dorćol to the city of Belgrade.
"We are returning the center to the City, we don't know what will happen now and what the City will decide to do with the club. In my opinion, I made a friendly proposal for it to be a national tennis center - for 15-20 years this has been the great wish of the Tennis Association of Serbia and all of us tennis workers. This sport, which has given a lot to Serbia, deserves to have a tennis center. That is ideal," said Djokovic at the time.
Today, Tipsarević Academy is asking about these fields. Janko Tipsarević, once in the top 10 best tennis players in the world, and now the favorite marketing face of the Serbian Progressive Party, took over these courts.
The Serbian tennis player announced that he would turn to new projects and even then announced the possibility that some of the projects would be outside of Serbia.
"I'm moving on to new projects and in the next few years something will come true, in another location, whether in Serbia or not - we'll see," Djokovic added.
Opening tennis courts is also one of the possible options. A little over a month ago, a tennis court was opened in New Belgrade in Block 23. The project was realized in cooperation between the Novak Djokovic Foundation, the brand "Lacoste" and the organization "We Are Etendart". It is very likely that Djokovic will do the same in Greece.
