The police are carrying out an intensified operation until August 10 at midnight traffic control aimed at detection and sanctioning violation of speedinge.
As police lieutenant colonel Dejan Stević told RTS, more than 38.000 drivers were checked in six days, and 24.000 illegal speeds were detected.
"As for this action itself, we are present with over a thousand police officers. So it ends tonight at midnight. We are only six days away, so we are still summarizing today, we will have results in the morning - we controlled over 38.000 drivers," he says.
And what particularly worries us is that we discovered over 2.600 illegal speeds in pedestrian crossing zones, Stević said.
"Pedestrians are the most vulnerable category of road users. Therefore, pedestrians, be careful, drivers - never exceed 30 km per hour in the pedestrian crossing zones", notes Lt. Col. Stević.
Hermetically sealed jar
Everyone who goes to Guča must understand that Guča is hermetically sealed in a narrower and wider ring, Stević said and explained what that means.
"This means that no one can leave this place of gathering, i.e. the festival, without being breathalyzed through the funnel. We had 12 controls in just 18.200 hours in Guča, of which 29 drivers were removed from traffic, 17 due to the influence of alcohol, one driver who was under the influence of drugs," says Stević.
Lt. Col. Stević said that a traffic accident with minor material damage occurred in Guča in a few days.
