"It is not enough to love Kosovo and Metohija only in words, but love must be translated into actions," said the head Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Patriarch of Porphyry u Easter deputies, saying that Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija must not be allowed to present themselves as an obstacle or hindrance to a future, allegedly better life.
"Without them, without our Kosovo-Metohija Serbs, without the Serbs of Old Serbia, there is no better life for any of us. We are all one people and one body in Christ, united by the same faith and the same suffering, but also by the same hope and the same celebration," said the patriarch.
About global crises
He pointed out in the MP that the consequences of today's world crisis are measured by cold economic indicators - financial losses, disruptions and falls on the stock exchanges and markets, while human tragedies remain in the deep shadow of those calculations: the death of innocents, the suffering of children and the misfortune of millions of people.
"Exactly such a perspective, in which material gain is placed before human life, has not only led to wars and injustices - it is strengthened by them. It is a great defeat for us people," said Porfirius.
Recalling the "words of the Lord with which he warns of the times when peace will be taken from the earth, when we will hear wars and voices of wars, because nation will rise against nation and empire against empire", the patriarch pointed out that these words are the reality in which we live today.
"We see unrest among nations, we hear voices about wars and we are witnesses of wars, suffering and uncertainty in the world," said the patriarch and emphasized that "the terrifying events of our days are not the last word of history, but a call to vigilance and fortifying in God."
According to him, the world we live in is increasingly unstable, and people are increasingly fearful, while value systems are changing in an organized and forced manner, in the direction of anti-values.
"Promises and contracts that were solemnly signed are brutally trampled on. Knowledge of such perfidy causes violence and growing divisions among nations, while the political and cultural gap deepens. Spiritual uncertainty and loss of meaning flourish on the ruins of dying civilizations," the patriarch said.
Forgiveness and breaking the cycle of hatred
Saying that miracles are not only unusual events or only great works of God in history, Porphyry also pointed out that it is also a miracle when we forgive and break the cycle of hatred.
"It is not just a moral demand or an abstract principle. It is a manifestation of the Resurrection and participation in its power and glory. Revenge is a crucifixion without resurrection, and unforgiveness and hatred are death and a sealed grave forever," the patriarch pointed out.
He pointed out that this is why the Resurrection is not just an event that belongs to the past, but a reality that we enter into every time we forgive, when we do not return blow for blow and when we recognize a brother in the enemy - then we choose life instead of death.
"Christ is risen," said Patriarch Porphyry.
