Court of Appeal in Belgrade, he ordered that the indictment for fall of the canopy from the railway station building in Novi Sad she decides again.
The Court of Appeal in Belgrade canceled the decision to confirm that indictment, which was submitted in March last year.
Three people are accused of having approved the opening of the station even though they knew that the work on the building was not finished, that it was not stable and that its use could endanger people's lives. it says SCREAM.
Respected appeals of the lawyer Slobodanka Katanić
According to the statement published on the court's website, the appeals of the lawyer and the accused Slobodanka Katanić, the manager of a state-owned company, were accepted. "Infrastructure of the Railways of Serbia".
The main reason for such a decision is that the first-instance court that confirmed the indictment did not determine whether the indictment was filed by an authorized prosecutor, the statement says. The statement did not provide further details.
This is the second time that the appeal reversed the decision to confirm the indictment, and for the same reasons.
This indictment was filed by the Belgrade Higher Prosecutor's Office, but the case was then forwarded Public prosecution for organized crime.
In addition to Katanić, the indictment includes the president and member of the Commission for Technical Inspection of the Novi Sad station, Milutin Savović and Biljana Krstić. All of them are charged with negligent work, abuse of official position and serious offense against general security.
What does the indictment say?
KRIK had insight into the indictment, which states that Katanić was in charge of coordinating and monitoring the railway reconstruction project from Novi Sad to the border with Hungary, which also included the reconstruction of the building in Novi Sad.
The Prosecution claims that Katanić knew that the report on the technical inspection made by the other two defendants was not done as it should have been, as well as that the works at the station were not finished, but she nevertheless made a decision to create a commission that will decide to open the part of the building where the canopy is for passengers. According to the indictment, she did not warn the authorities that the building was still not finished.
The commission, of which Savović was the president and Krstić was a member, had the task of carrying out a technical review of the performed works on the station building and determining that all the conditions necessary for its use have been met, the indictment says.
The Prosecution claims that Savović and Krstić, within their profession and jurisdiction, did not do it properly. The indictment states that they conducted the inspection even though the reconstruction of the building was still in progress and did not check whether the works on the building were carried out in accordance with the construction permit and other documentation on the basis of which the building was reconstructed.
Investigations without progress
In addition to this, proceedings are being conducted before the prosecutor's office in Novi Sad for the fall of the canopy, and the Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime is conducting a financial investigation related to the railroad reconstruction project.
As part of the investigation conducted by the Higher Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad at the end of November 2024, the former Minister of Construction was also arrested Goran Vesić. Although the prosecution filed an indictment, at the end of December last year, the court suspended the proceedings against him and several other persons due to lack of evidence.
Since the first of August last year, JTOK has been investigating financial abuses in the project of modernization and reconstruction of the railway from Belgrade to the border with Hungary, which also includes the renovation of the station building in Novi Sad.
In addition to Vesić, this investigation also includes the former minister Tomislav Momirovic who was arrested and spent six months in custody. The prosecutor's office suspects that all the suspects together damaged the state budget by 115 million dollars.
