The European Union is introducing the Entry/Exit System (EES), which collects fingerprints and a photo of the face of travelers from outside the EU. The system is being implemented gradually, and until April 2026 passports will still be stamped
Member States Of the European Union, with the exception of Cyprus and Ireland, today begin the gradual implementation of the new Entry/Exit System (EES) which refers to citizens who are not citizens of EU member states and do not have a regulated stay in the countries of the Schengen zone.
Only at the first entry into the country that applies the EES, the border control will include the taking of four fingerprints, a photo of the face and the entry of personal and travel data into the system, while minors under the age of 12 will not be fingerprinted, but will be photographed and passport data will be taken.
In addition to the 25 EU member states, the EES system will also be applied by Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
In Croatia, the implementation begins at the Batrovci - Bajakovo crossing and at Zagreb Airport, in Bulgaria at the Gradina - Kalotina crossing, in Romania at the Kaluđerovo - Najdaš crossing,
As previously announced by the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the system will be introduced in Hungary at a later stage, probably from November at the Tompa, Horgoš, Bački Vinogradi, Bačalmaš, Bački Breg, Rabe-Kibekhaza and other crossings.
At land border crossings there will be a specially marked passage with "EES", but in case of congestion the border police may decide to suspend the registration of passengers in order to speed up the crossing of the border.
From October 12, 2025 to April 10, 2026, passports will continue to be stamped for all passengers, regardless of whether the EES file has been created. The EES system does not change the visa regime for citizens of Serbia, i.e. a stay of up to 90 days within 180 days.
In the event that travelers do not leave their data within the time limit set for the establishment of the system in the next six months, they can do so later, when entering the territory of the Union for the first time.
The goal is to abolish the stamping of passports, so the next time a traveler comes to the territory of the EU, instead of giving a passport, depending on the EU member state, they will be asked to leave their fingerprints or to read their face on the installed devices.
Unclear procedure for transit passengers
When it comes to holders of diplomatic passports, heads of state and government, they will not be subject to this system if they travel to EU member states by invitation and if these visits are announced through diplomatic channels.
In any other case, they may be required to register in the EES system, while it is not yet clear whether passengers in transit, for example to Ireland, will have to leave their data when transferring at one of the European airports.
The EES system is free of charge, does not require any registration before traveling to the Schengen countries, and will be implemented gradually over the next six months.

There is, literally, no difference between the one who claims it is day in the middle of the night, or the one who claims to be a giraffe, from the claims we read on billboards: that Vučić is working to unify Serbs and that Serbia is doing better and better day by day.
