Professor of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad Dink Gruhonjić a new threat was sent, this time in the form of a letter that arrived at the address of the faculty, and was signed with: "Greetings from Ratko Mladić", announced the Association of Independent Electronic media ANEMIA.
That association requested an immediate reaction from the authorities.
"Shut that Ustasha mouth so it's not too late!", stated in the letter, which is full of insults and threats, announced ANEM.
The association called on the authorities to immediately investigate a new case of inadmissible and serious threats against Gruhonjic, identify the perpetrators as soon as possible and file charges.
"We emphasize once again that impunity for attacks on journalists, especially those who, like Gruhonjic, are the most frequent targets of threats, insults and attacks - encourages the attackers to continue their attacks because they know they will not be prosecuted," stated ANEM.
It was stated that Gruhonjić is a frequent target of threats and that the latest ones were reported only a day before.
Noting that we should not ignore the fact that Gruhonjić is often the subject of targeting and campaigns against him by pro-government tabloids, ANEM pointed out that the latest threats were preceded by several texts published in early September in tabloids on the occasion of Gruhonjić's visit to Croatia, allegedly to "spit on Serbia" and to be a "Serb-hater".
In addition to the media, Gruhonjić is also called names and falsely accused by representatives of the authorities, who try to connect him with the student protests and the issue of the status of Vojvodina from lecterns at rallies, in interviews on public services, and through gossip in the tabloids.
Appealing to the authorities to immediately stop the targeting and negative campaign against Gruhonjić and other dissidents, ANEM emphasized that such inflammatory statements can have dangerous consequences for the safety of those persons and their families.
"Government representatives must be aware of the responsibility for every word spoken in public," ANEM stressed.
"We call, first of all, on the president of the state, but also on other public office holders, to publicly condemn the negative campaigns and harassment carried out by tabloids against people, the disrespect of professional and ethical standards of journalism and not to give them legitimacy in the form of exclusive guest appearances, interviews and giving statements," said ANEM.
