On Friday and Saturday (May 29 and 30), a Scientific Picnic will be held in the Arboretum of the Faculty of Forestry in Belgrade. As the organizers said, it is the place with the most vegetation in Belgrade.
It will be the fourth Science Picnic, and the biggest so far. It is organized by the Science Festival and the Faculty of Forestry.
Under the slogan "Think green", this event invites citizens to take a crucial step towards a sustainable thinking model, turning one of Belgrade's most beautiful green oases into a large open-air classroom, according to the organizers.
Free entrance
The goal of this year's gathering is for sustainable development to stop being just a theoretical concept and become part of our everyday life, inspiring visitors to significantly reduce their negative impact on the environment with simple changes in behavior. Entrance to the Science Picnic is free.
"The picnic takes place outdoors, it gives us the opportunity to do something with nature. We have the participation of about thirty institutions with more than 30 settings, we also have guests from abroad, we also have people from the faculty of medical studies who will talk about the use of 3D printing in medicine," said scientific communicator Milan Popović.
This year's Science Picnic will present four program units: Field of Innovations - a zone of interactive installations, Garden of Ideas - workshops for the youngest, Expertinegers - our youngest participants and greatest hopes, and the Science Fiction Stage.
Garden of ideas
Visitors will be guided through the "Field of Innovation" and "Garden of Ideas" by Science Picnic collaborators from the University of Belgrade, scientific institutions and civil society organizations. Visitors of all ages will learn how to adopt a "green code" of thinking.
The program is especially aimed at young people, who through mastering ecological topics become aware of their impact on nature. While the youngest will explore the world of science through play, high school students and students will have the opportunity for a more serious scientific approach to the topics that shape our future. At the Science Picnic, parents will explore how to become guides to a sustainable lifestyle for their children through everyday habits.
In the "Expert Teenagers" program, primary and secondary school students take on the role of demonstrators and lead their peers through the world of ecology, physics and mathematics through exciting experiments. Get ready to be surprised by unusual phenomena like the Leaning Tower and the powerful Coriolis force, but also to understand that formulas are not only in books - they are all around us, they live and move the world around us.
Exploding discoveries
The interactive science show program "Exploding discoveries" by Milan Popović has been performed several hundred times in seven countries in the last ten years! This time they will show some of the most attractive scientific demonstrations and tell the craziest scientific stories about discoveries, incidents and natural phenomena.
The Arboretum of the Faculty of Forestry is a unique protected natural asset of 3,5 hectares that is maintained with great care, love and dedication by the professors and students of this faculty. This specific purpose green area has an exceptional botanical, as well as landscape-architectural value.
The Faculty of Forestry has also built a small amphitheater, and there will also be a cinema.
