Mihajlovic: Penetration of cold air from the west
Goran Mihajlović from the Republic Hydrometeorological Institute told RTS that after the hot days, we had a penetration of cold air from the west, primarily moist, unstable, which brought storms, heavy rainfall, extremely strong wind at times, stormy winds and everything that comes when we have a penetration of moist, unstable air on a warm air mass, first to Bačka, and then to Srem, in parts of the Banat.

"An orange warning was issued by the Hydrometeorological Institute, and emergency warnings were also issued yesterday for all of these disaster, so the monitoring of all weather phenomena was in some way intensified. The message to citizens is to follow the weather forecast and warnings and advice on how to behave in these situations," Mihajlović pointed out.
According to him, this end of hot days is coming gradually, it will first of all affect the west and north of the country, in the late hours it will also affect the central parts, while the eastern and southeastern parts would still be under the influence of the warm air mass and we have a red warning for high temperatures.
He noted that cooler weather is expected from tomorrow, up to 15 and even 20 degrees in some areas.
Storm in Novi Sad
The storm, accompanied by heavy rain and strong gusts of wind, hit Novi Sad around 13 pm.
Certain parts of the city were also affected by large hail.
What kind of weather can the citizens of Belgrade expect?
Speaking about the weather in Belgrade and whether a storm is expected, Mihajlović says that there are conditions and that information should be monitored, and that urgent warnings of such phenomena are issued up to an hour in advance.
"As for this week, let's say this hot period, this is definitely the end, given that tomorrow the maximum temperature would be only 20 to 25 degrees, then a gradual stabilization is expected on Thursday and Friday. The maximum temperature will reach 30, but we can expect warm weather again by the weekend," said Mihajlovic.
When asked if supercell storms are expected, he says that the media insists on this topic more when we have extremely warm weather and the penetration of cold, unstable, humid air, so there are conditions for the formation of extreme phenomena.
"Such processes are forecasted about one to two hours in advance, and in that sense, urgent warnings are issued, even in the case of the need for an SMS message, given that the Hydrometeorological Institute is also part of that system," he said.
