On May 8, the Government of Serbia adopted a Conclusion establishing a Working Group for the analysis of the current state of financing and performance of higher education in the Republic of Serbia and for the preparation Draft law on higher education.
This Working Group is headed by Minister of Education Dejan Vuk Stanković, and his deputy is academician and Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Bela Balint.
In the Conclusion it is written that based on the analysis of the current state of financing and performance higher education, the working group to define priorities and propose measures for the establishment of rational and sustainable financing of higher education, based on quality and with a focus on students.
The deadline for completing the tasks from this Conclusion is three months from the date of formation of the Working Group.

Among the 20 elected members is the rector of the University of Belgrade, prof. Vladan Đokić and rector of the University of Novi Sad, Prof. Dejan Madić, but also the president of the Student Conference of the Universities of Serbia (SKONUS) Margareta Smiljanic - a student who became known to the public after the SNS call center.
The headquarters of a non-governmental organization called the Center for Education and Development of Youth in Belgrade (CEROB) served as a place where money was paid for work in the call center of the Serbian Progressive Party in December 2023, the portal Nova.rs wrote.
That organization received large financial resources from state institutions in tenders for the implementation of various projects related to youth and students. And exactly at the top of the pyramid of this organization was Smiljanić.
Eternal student
Smiljanić is this year's winner of the Svetosava Award, which was presented by former Minister of Education Slavica Đukić Dejanović. Margareta Smiljanić is a long-term student of the Faculty of Political Sciences, the holder of high positions in many student bodies and the president of an organization that does not support student blockades.
"With her dedicated work and responsible approach, she made an exceptional contribution to the development of education and student organization in the Republic of Serbia," announced the Ministry of Education after the awarding of the Svetosava awards.
Valentina Reković, a member of the Presidency of the Freedom and Justice Party, assessed that the Minister of Education Slavica Đukić Dejanović humiliated the youth of Serbia by handing the Svetosava Award to the "eternal student" Margareta Smiljanić, writes N1.
"She presented the award intended for education to the president of the organization, whose previous leader ended up as a deputy of the Serbian Progressive Party," Reković stated in a written statement.
Additionally, in December, Smiljanić was part of a delegation of students who met with Prime Minister Miloš Vučević to discuss the continuation of the school year in the conditions of the blockade.
