In a written statement, Jovanović stated that two years ago, the city government declared the procurement of 25 tram, although the tender was drawn up for the Turkish factory Bozonkaya, and the work was worth an unrealistic 67 million euros, excluding VAT, he added.
"The irony of fate is that citizens do not ride those trams to this day," said Jovanović and added that the explanation both simple and sad at the same time - because they have a large number of failures and complaints that are not resolved, so from the depot GSP only between 12 and 14 trams leave on average per day.
He said that two new Turkish trams do not enter traffic at all, and due to the critical condition of the tram line towards Ustanička, no new tram runs on that stretch, asking if anyone will be held accountable for that "colossal debacle".
The procedure for the purchase of 85 trams for Belgrade was frozen in the winter of 2026 due to objections from the bidders, while the tender for the purchase of 150 buses was suspended in January, the vice president of the Belgrade Committee of the Freedom and Justice Party, Ana Gođevac, announced at the time, assessing that city public transport brought to a serious crisis due to, as he states, a long-standing model of government based on contested tenders.
