Thompson's concerts are accompanied by characteristic rhetoric.
A song celebrating the slaughter of Serbs in Ustasha concentration camps rang out on August 4 from a loudspeaker in a cafe in Sinj before Thompson's of the concert at the Hippodrome, can be seen in the video that was transmitted by the Croatian portal Index.hr.
Six people were detained for singing inappropriate songs, shouting inappropriately and encouraging others to behave like that, the police announced.
About 150.000 tickets were sold for Thompson's concert at the Sinj Hippodrome, reports HRT.
MSP: Scandalous incident
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia strongly condemned the incident on the eve of Marko Perković Thompson's concert in Sinj, when a song openly glorifying the Ustasha crimes and their executors Jur Francetić and Maks Luburić was played on a loudspeaker in front of a restaurant.
"The fact that this shameful act was accompanied by ovations and euphoria from the citizens present is especially disturbing," adds Nevena Jovanović, State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior. "It is necessary to remind that this is about content that explicitly celebrates the mass murders of Serbs and the terrible crimes committed against the Serbian people during the Second World War, and to clearly point out that the public dissemination of such messages is absolutely unacceptable and contrary to fundamental European values and the idea of reconciliation between peoples in the region."
If there is no appropriate reaction, she adds, "it will represent additional evidence that by denying historical facts and tolerating hate speech, a climate of intolerance is being consciously encouraged, with potentially serious and long-term consequences."
"Despite everything, the Republic of Serbia remains firmly committed to peace, stability and good-neighborly cooperation. That is why it is crucial that such phenomena are clearly recognized, condemned and resolutely stopped, so that future generations in our region have the opportunity to live in the spirit of tolerance, mutual respect and universal values that connect, not separate," stated the state secretary.
