On November 26, a contract was signed in Belgrade formalizing the construction of the luxury Ritz-Carlton hotel chain on the site of the legendary Hotel Yugoslavia in Belgrade.
The contract between the companies "Marriott International" and "Danube Riverside doo Beograd", which is a daughter company of the "Millennium team", was signed in the presence of the Minister of Finance of Serbia, Sinisa Malog.
Mali said at the event that the arrival of the "Ritz-Carlton" brand in Belgrade will contribute to the image of the capital city as a luxury tourist destination, and that it is a "contract of great importance".
Model of "Rica" and the tower
It was announced that the new Belgrade hotel will be opened in 2027 on the site of the former famous hotel "Yugoslavia", which was designed in 1947 and opened in 1969 as the pride of Yugoslavia, an architectural masterpiece and among the five largest and most beautiful in Europe.
Belgraders say that it is slaughtering an ox for a kilo of meat.
Namely, the new hotel with a capacity of 193 rooms is three times smaller than the former architectural achievement with more than 600 rooms and 23 suites.
Designed so that in its style and proportions it ideally fits into the urban plan of New Belgrade, with special attention to the idea of an open waterfront that must not be crowded with buildings, and those buildings must not be oversized.
When they demolish it, apart from the hotel, there will be a residential and business block with an accent on two forty-story towers.
In the past few days, the campaign for the sale of apartments has started. This means that this "contract of great importance" will be largely financed by a couple of domestic buyers.
