High Court in Novi Sad he assigned to the former minister Goran Vesić house arrest for three months, with electronic monitoring.
Vesić was forbidden to use the telephone and the Internet for three months, and to welcome other people into his apartment.
For the other 12 people accused of the fall of the canopy at the Railway Station in Novi Sad, house arrest was extended for another three months.
On September 16, the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad filed an indictment against 13 defendants in the case of the fall of the canopy at the Railway Station in Novi Sad.
The defendants are charged with crimes that qualify as serious crimes against general security from Article 288 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code.
Who is accused?
Among the accused are persons from the Ministry of Construction, Railway Infrastructure of Serbia (IŽS), the Republic Audit Commission, designers and persons responsible for expert supervision.
The indictment included 13 defendants: Goran Vesić, former minister and acting director of IŽS, Nebojša Šurlan, also former director of IŽS, then acting assistant minister Anita Dimoski.
Also included in the indictment are SN responsible for the designer of the building structure, MJ the chief designer of the conceptual project, Lj. MM chief designer of the building permit project, MS reporter of the Republic Revision Commission, JSM person responsible for technical control of the building permit project, ZSM and DJ persons responsible for construction works, MG and DT persons responsible for expert supervision of works execution.
They are included in the indictment for:
- criminal acts that enabled the use of a public facility - the station building of the Railway Station in Novi Sad, wing B, even though construction work was in progress and for which a use permit was not issued,
- a criminal offense related to the previous non-maintenance of the structure of the station building,
- criminal offenses in the design and execution phase of the renovation of the station building of the Railway Station in Novi Sad.
"In the indictment, it was proposed that the High Court in Novi Sad order detention for all the defendants due to the continuing great disturbance of the public, which may threaten the smooth and fair conduct of the criminal proceedings. In relation to individual defendants, it was proposed to order detention because of the risk that they will repeat the crime," announced the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office.
