Expo 2027 has announced that it will hire "world-renowned street artists" to beautify Belgrade. And that, of course, is a good idea.
On their website, they boast that they "had the opportunity to collaborate with incredibly talented artists who brought the spirit of the city to life in their own unique way: @ememem.flacking, @lecyklopand @nes.nespoon", that is, that they are the initiators of artistic works an artist from Lyon who at night uses mosaics to patch holes in the city, about which social networks reported a lot.
They reminded that Ememem "creates phenomenal mosaics in the places of holes and cracks", and that LeCyklop "turns ordinary objects into playful characters, with their interventions they create new narratives in public spaces, inviting people to notice the beauty in their everyday life."
They announced an open-air gallery. They say that "ordinary spaces and objects will be transformed into stunning works of art" and explain that "just as sports and music bring people together, public art unites communities by inviting collective participation and interaction."
The announcement also states that artists will be invited to "play with the cityscape, combining their unique styles with the rich tradition and spirit of Serbia."
They point out that "urban interventions have a unique power to transform urban landscapes into interactive spaces that encourage thinking", as well as that "all these works, given that they are not limited by the walls of the gallery, make art more accessible, involved in the life of the city and citizens."
