May Day holidays are good this spring for those who like to travel. Four non-working days, even if three of the holidays are taken - ten days are obtained for travel.
"The most popular are the surrounding countries, so people are interested in tours to Mostar, Trebinje, Banja Luka, as well as Ohrid and Skopje, while there is also a variant that sells well - the north of Montenegro and the coast," Aleksandar Seničić from Utah tells "Vreme".
"Every year, the big European cities, Thessaloniki, Vienna, Prague, as well as Northern Italy, do well, for which bus arrangements can be found starting from 70 euros and up to some 180 euros, depending on the hotel and the day."
From further destinations, Dubai, Egypt and Tunisia are popular, and in recent years, people like to travel by plane, adds Senicic, to go to Spain and Portugal, especially Malaga, Lisbon, Porto. As low-cost companies in Serbia have offered flights to these cities as well, the arrangements are much more favorable and affordable than before.
Uncertainty in the country – 10 percent fewer trips
Citizens still travel a little less than in previous years, and Seničić says that the reasons they mention are the social crisis and uncertainty in the country, as well as the state of the economy.
"In recent years, the state sector has been in an uncertain state, and a huge number of people work in it, so they are less likely to give money to some way, rather they save it. So this year, there is about ten percent less interest in arrangements, and one of the reasons is the increase in the price of the offer from five to 15 percent."
What about vouchers?
Those who, on the other hand, want to travel around Serbia, often have to book their own accommodation because few agencies deal with domestic tourism.
On April 17, the state distributed 30.000 vouchers, which can only be used in places outside the place of residence and outside the place of study of the voucher user. Additional conditions are that the voucher can be used for at least five nights and can cover a maximum amount of RSD 10.000.
The largest number of pensioners applied for vouchers and these are mainly health centers, i.e. spas - Sokobanja, Lukovska banja, Vrnjačka banja, Kuršumlijska banja, while the most popular destinations are Zlagibor and Divčibare, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
