Belgrade party committee Serbia Center (SRCE) he warned that Belgrade Tower it is not yet fully occupied or usable due to problems with the air conditioning system and non-compliance with domestic fire regulations.
That party arranged that the observation deck at the top of Belgrade Tower is open, while the rest of the building, except for the first six floors where The St. Regis Belgrade – still empty.
"According to the project assignment, water from the Sava is provided as a medium for cooling, i.e. the functioning of the air conditioning system. However, the confluence of the Sava and the Danube is also close there, so there is more silt than water in the river, so the air conditioning system is practically unusable. The sub-system for desalination is not sufficiently dimensioned, and it is not possible to cool or heat with silt," announced the SRCE party.
They said that it is necessary to dismantle and throw out "a good part of the expensive facilities, redesign, buy and install new devices - designed to work with air".
They added that another problem is fire protection, stating that the building was designed according to American standards, which, as they stated, are milder than the regulations in force in Serbia.
"And now, especially after the tragedy at the Novi Sad railway station, no one will sign a fire safety agreement. Who is crazy enough to sign something, even for huge sums of money, when they will be the first to go to prison if something happens," asked the SRCE party.
They pointed out that, until those problems are solved, the Belgrade Tower will serve "only as a big advertising banner and a carrier of fireworks for New Year's celebrations."
