We must not be silent about our own mistakes. We have to show that we are not the same as those close to the regime. That's why I came out publicly, even though many people blamed me for it. I had the responsibility because I know all the details. It was clear to me that everything I know, the regime also knows, and that it will use it in a painful moment. If I had remained silent, I would have been an accomplice. It became clear to me that when you have more influence, you also have more responsibility

On the spot

Our first address is a building from the fifties - probably unpainted since then. Retired lady: "We are activists for the student list. - Sorry, I don't support you." Enthusiasm wanes slightly. We enter the next building. It was built in the late seventies, the facade is made of concrete and red brick, eight floors, without an elevator. "Oh, so where are you for me, I know everything, see you at the vote"

Red is the color of blood. A good graphic symbol can unite people more than many words and sermons. Historically, the cross, the star of David, the crescent, the pentacle have done this. And in recent times here too - target, the fist of "Resistance" and now the red, i.e. bloody hand

"Time" file: Personal experience from a British hospital

I spent many hours by my mother's side in the hospital, caregivers took turns, discreet and subtle; they talked if I wanted to talk, I chose the topics, they answered my questions, they kept quiet when I kept quiet. I asked one of them how she copes with a job where someone dies every day. "Death is a part of life, our job is to make that process easier. We get strength from that help," she said gently
